Fishing Report 28 September 2021
Weather for the Week.
By now we all sitting tracking the
rain that is inbound and typical of Zululand it is due to hit over the weekend
and some apps show from Sunday so hopefully it gives us a gap to fish on
Saturday.
Lagoon
Rudi over the weekend had a bit of
luck when the came across a school of what looks brassy kingfish, they caught about
25 of them and just a fast as they appeared the were gone and they caught nothing
for the rest of the session, further inland Neil and his crowed caught grunter
and river bream. A few weeks ago Malabar rockcod and river snapper were caught
and everyone was excited however what we though was going to be the norm turned
into a false dawn, come back they will still early days.
Surf
On Sunday a big cob of 49.22kg (Ori)
was caught at Port Dunford on a sardine, the fight lasted about 2 hrs, I was
shown the pictures by the anglers involved and sent a picture via mms to my
phone but it never came through for some reason fortunately a customer was in
the shop at the time and saw it. This winter has been the best for big cob in a
long time and most of them were caught in the day. Decent size snapper cob are
been caught and so is a lot of baby sinner sharks, milkies and some baby
hammers, thank you to the majority of anglers who put them back however there
are some anglers at Boyens and Red Boom are not as we discovered in the
international beach clean-up, 8 baby sharks were recovered I am led to believe
that people think that baby sharks are wasting their bait, get real man they
also need to eat to get big, you can’t have your cake and eat it, if you don’t
want to catch these sharks stop fishing till February .
Ski boat
With all this wind playing havoc it
has been very quiet on the fishing side however one of the guys took his new
boat out for a spin and managed to get
some Tuna in our waters which is a good sign as they have been absent for some
time.
