Fishing Report 8 June 2018
Weather for the weekend.
Gentle breeze from the SW at 5 m/s first thing and remaining so the whole day, it will be partly cloudy to start with but clearing up throughout the day. Max temp 22. Wave height 1.7 period 10.

Gentle breeze a 4 m/s from the NNE swinging to a LB NE at 2 m/s in the afternoon. Partly cloudy with a max of 23. Wave height 1.4 period 9.

Gentle breeze from the WSW at 4 m/s the swings to a FB at 6 m/s from the SW bringing rain with it. Max temp 21. Wave height 1.1 period 10 dropping to 7.

Although very silted up at places fishing is still very busy, now here is a challenge in front of the logs at the main car park is something big, it takes whole Sards and when you try set the hook it spits the bait we even tried free spooling it, what is it? We think it could be a big Malabar Rockcod but we not sure, it has been there for 2 days. If you have a crab license in the middle of the main car park is a good place to fish for them, there are plenty.
For those that like fishing the incoming tide, this weekend is working out well as we have early morning lows from this morning through the weekend. There are a lot of very big Non Eds lurking in the surf zone, my informant tells me he sat watching 4 guys taking it in turns with a big fish which they eventually lost. Some big Honey Comb Rays have been landed over the past week or so maybe that was one, don’t forget Raggies and the Big Grey Sharks. On the edible front still lots of baby Kob about please put then back, there are also size Kob when they get a change to feed. No sign of Garrick yet but don’t give up, if you cannot get live bait put a baby Mac or whole Sard out, this works well for the big Dusky Kob.
The sea has calmed down and got its colour back after the storm, still not too late to catch a Bus of Couta. Nothing to report as we did not see anybody going out.
Umlalazi Ski Boat club are planning a “Bottoms Comp” in August, we will let you know more detail as we get it.
