The lagoon has been very busy during the week and guys fishing artificial are getting into the action, young Christo had his hooks opened on his lures so has changed them for 4 x trebles, it seems the culprits are Brassy King fish. The prawns are in the river and the fish are shoaling them when you see this throw lures over the bait ball and retrieve threw it. When fishing around a bait ball try see what fish are in the ball and what size then match your lure in size and as near to the species as you can, the fish are focused on what is in the bait ball i.e. if they shoaling Sprats use the Anchovy spoon as they are similar size.
Fishing and conditions look great for the weekend especially that Spring Tide will be on Monday meaning we will have a lot lower and higher tides, the low tides mean people like me who thinks a 80m cast is breaking limits can also get into the action and have baits lying against the mid bank and at high tide fishing the front trough behind the shore break is still achievable. This week for the brave some fish were caught but conditions were tough, I quote young Dup “when the wind blows your tackle box over it is time to go” despite that he got a few rats and mice and a nice size Hound Shark of 1m 3.4kg. Young Willem fishing near him got a nice size Spotted Grunter. There are a lot of plans being made for the fishing this weekend let’s hope the fish come to the party.
Weather for the weekend does not look to bad to go out and hunt some Snoek however it looks like it will have to be a beach launch unless you can get into the park very early and be at the mouth for first light there should be enough water to get out and if the weather turns a return on the beach is still an option instead of waiting till lunch time when there should be enough water to get back in.
