So far this week the lagoon has been fishing well with size Spotted Grunter and Kob been caught. While waiting for the “Big One” and fishing with small hooks and small baits Stumpies, Javelin Grunter, and Big Eye Kingfish etc. will keep you occupied, although it is raining now and has been all morning it is not heavy enough to discolor the water so the weekend ahead will still produce good fish.
Not so many small sharks about how ever my informant tells me there are a lot of Juvinile Kob, please treat them with care and return them so they come back bigger, as they say if the little ones are here the big ones must be here to and the best time to target them will be early morning and late afternoon, this weekend the tides favor that pattern.
There is a boat out as we speak that we know of and we are awaiting details of the days catch. The swell is quiet big but the period is wide so very fishable. This weekend the weather is fishable as we have a light breeze all weekend with swell of about 1.5 although blowing from the Southerly direction it should not stop you from launching, with the tides the way they are , you can even have a sleep in hahahaha.
Umlalazi Ski Boat club are planning a “Bottoms Comp” in September around the weekend of the 22nd , the 24th being a public holiday and the last long weekend before Christmas, we will let you know more detail as we get it.
