Fishing Report 31 March2017

Well the NE ambushed us today so what the weather entails for the weekend will be a lottery, I hope it is good as the Umlalazi Ski Boat Club are holding their Couta Classic.

From Lunch time the NE continues to blow gusting to a max of 16 by this evening before dropping during the night. Max temp 34 Barometer 1008 and rising to 1009 Wave Height 1.5 dropping to 1.2 by this evening P9

Early morning the wind is SW gusting 16knts but the good news is it drops off during the course of the day, Max temp 25. Barometer 1011 rising to 1016 by mid-day then drops off again slightly to 1015. Wave Height 1.5 dropping to 1.2 by midday, wave period 9.

NNE with a genital swing to ENE by midday gusting 17 midafternoon Barometer 1015 dropping to 1009 Max temp 32. Wave height 1.2 rising steadily through the day to 1.4 Period 11.

Sunday seems to be a better day for the comp than Saturday except weigh in closes at 2pm

Tomorrow is our first Kiddies comp and we have a number of entries already, they will be tested on knots, casting and baiting up as well as the most CM of fish caught. Big thanks to the Clay Oven and the Country Club for sponsoring some of the prizes with the shop chipping in the rest. The R10.00 entry fee will be sued to build stock for the Kiddies Club to use before they buy items i.e. lures, floats etc. So far on every outing they have all caught fish let’s hope Neptune is kind to us tomorrow.

The surf will be quiet flat over the weekend which means edibles like Shad will be in abundance as they have been all week, their will how still be some large ineds about but fishing for them will be a bit slow, I believe a very big raggie was dropped at the old ramp during the week, the live parted but they had the fish visible.

Ski Boat

Its show time…..Umlalazi Ski Boat Club are hosting their annual Couta Classic and so far there are more entries than last year, good news is there are Couta about with 2 been boated this week weighing over 20kg. Bottoms were very active Monday through to Wednesday but yesterday was a Barbell Derby of note. Best bait for Couta seems to be bay Macs.

News from the Shop.

Our tackle rucksacks and prawn pumps have arrived from PE thanks to the Harris Brothers. Our little Puffy called Nemo continues to bury himself after he has fed but that is not all that is unusual about him, he also takes food from the bigger fish and is a feisty little feeder.
