Weather for the weekend.
Sitting here waiting to see what the weather is going to do today to try get a indication of what the weatherman says and what is happening. This week we had 3 evenings of thunderstorms, not forecast, the buster that came through yesterday evening smashed the town to pieces, branches and leaves everywhere. For the next few days we have a SW forecast with showers, the sea is on its head and the surf is only due to settle from Monday wave height start at 1,3m this morning climbing to 3m with period of 9 making surf fishing a nightmare. The Barometer remains high so Lagoon seems to be the best place to fish and the closer to the mouth the better.
Been fishing well during the week and bait sales can attest to this. There is still something in the main car park area stripping reels and this weekend I am going to try catch whatever it is with a Couta stick and surf tackle. Steel Bridge seems to be the hot spot for River Snapper is you don’t have a boat. Whole or bait prawns are proving the best choice of bait, use a running sinker for the Grunter.
This week passed was good for Surf Fishing and the early morning and late afternoon sessions paying off, besides Shad and Snapper Cob some nice flat fish were caught, Duckbill Rays, Honey Combs and Diamonds plus a nice Giant Guitar fish. This weekend we predict with the huge swell being pushed in by the SW that the side wash will be strong and with big swell it will be very testing.
What a week it was caring on from last weekend, we had 3 charters and boated fish on every trip, besides bottoms we caught Couta, Tuna and Skip Jacks. Biggest Couta 25kg. This weekend we have cancelled our 3 charts because of the sea conditions, sorry guys.
