Fishing Report 4 September 2020
Weather for the Weekend.
This morning and Sunday morning are
looking like good times to fish, Saturday the Ne blows all day, and still it is
a good fishing wind.
Lagoon
Good news for the Spotted Grunter
fishermen, several big species have been landed at several places along the
lagoon both inside and outside the reserve. It is also about this time when the
big River Roman make their return to the estuarine system, target these with
Lures and live bait, the water is still clean so targeting Shad with a big
Sardine bait will be advisable.
Surf
The sea is reasonably flat with good
colour and the guys caught fish every day this week, yesterday Vino and his
friends caught 5 species of fish and came back for more bait so I am not sure
what they got after that, their bag comprised of Spotted Pompano, Shad, Spotted
grunter, Stumpy and I think a Lessor. Talking about Shad , they are coming up
to the time of the year when they undergo a name change to “Mud Bream” this
will last till the end of November and during this period it is a no take fish.
There are still big one about and young Michael aka Dark Wing Duck landed one
of 4kg on Tuesday afternoon. Young Chris managed a Diamond of a fair size
during that session. As you can see from what was looking like a tough fishing
week things happened.
Ski boat
The good news is that the weekend of
the 26/27 September the lagoon will not be closed to boating except for the
areas between the 2 bridges N2 and R106. It looks like Sunday morning has a
window for a quick trip.
