Christo report
a 6kg Kob was caught the other evening, this is great to have them still here
at this time of the year. The Parks Board have put some new information boards
up along the Mangrove walk so if you are tired of fishing and want to go for a
walk go and explore the Mangroves and see if you can find the trees and
creatures displayed on the boards, the Whelks fascinated me the most. The water
is back to its normal colour however near the mouth is almost blue great for
fishing this weekend. The Amatikulu River is open again so fishing will pick up
there.
Surf.
Fishing the
banks this weekend remember to pack some 1/0 hooks and 30lb cable, forget this
at home at your peril as there are plenty of Milkies about and they will help
get your points, however don’t despair I am sure there will be some Diamonds as
we have had and will have very hot days and they seem to become more active in
the heat, the water temperature is very warm another plus as they were not
feeding in the cold water. Remember you are fishing in a MPA and may not use
any species of the Elasmobranchii in your position or using it as bait. (Keep
it tidy). Some very nice Shad have been
coming out recently be patient 2 more days to go. There are a lot of Baby
Hammer Head Sharks readily taking bait, please handle them with care and if you
confident enough squash your barbs as it makes removing the hook a lot easier,
no there is a challenge. A nice little Duckbill Ray was caught in front of the Chalets
during the week, it is not often we have them here Paulo and his son were
chuffed to hear about their good fortune.
Ski Boat
Whilst the
weather this past week was good the water colour and visibility was also good,
young John took advantage of that and he shot a Wahoo and some Snoek. The boats
fishing in water temperature around 26deg only managed to catch red fish and no
Kob, Sarel went all the way to High Point and came back empty handed. Tomorrow
is looking good for a trip out and by the sounds of it quite a few anglers are
taking advantage it. The Amatikulu River mouth is open and I am told it is wide
and deep.
Next events.
