Lagoon
Row row row your boat by Rudi Soll, let
us leave this here, colours for boat rowing 2 days in a row setting a new course
record will be awarded a the annual “I got stuck on a sand bank” dinner. On Friday
fishing was slow with a few Javelin Grunter and a crab been caught however that
soon changed as the weekend wore on with the species been caught increasing as
well . “I missed a big pull” has been
reported in increasing numbers, maybe if one keeps hold of the rod instead of a
cold beverage the hook ups would have increased, just a thought.
Surf
After a bit of side wash on Friday and
Saturday calmed down the guys got stuck into some nice fish, big Shad were on
the bite as well as small Kob and spinners. Towards the light house young Chris
caught a nice size Black Tip 70kg, this is the first report we have received of
a decent size shark been landed this winter, patience and keep trying will land
you one of these, the Raggies are here but not many guys are targeting them.
Yesterday on the shop watsup group there was a discussion about beach driving,
it is a criminal offence to drive on the beach for angling purposes period that
means when you get caught you get a criminal record and not just a fine like for
speeding. I will post the act details on a spate post either this afternoon or tomorrow
morning.
Ski boat
Fishing over the weekend was good particular
on Sunday, there were reports of Richards Bay the water was very green on
Saturday however yesterday Nanook managed a nice Yellow Fin Tuna of 28.8kg. The
guys fishing our waters yesterday caught some nice fish even if it meant beach
launching. Young Louis on his first trip from Mtunzini on his jet ski left
later than most went out through the mouth and after trawling the wreck area
catching only Shad he did some bottoms and caught his first soldier and a nice
one at that together with some slinger before heading back in through the
mouth, being neap tide it was very shallow in the surf zone.
Next events.
We are holding a fishing clinic on
the 31 August in the main car park at the lagoon, it is free to enter and we
will be demonstrating different types of traces to target River Bream and we
will also discuss the best places to target them by trying to use their behaviour
to enhance our chances of catching one.
