Weather for the weekend.
Friday
W gusting 5 for most of the morning then the wind swings to an E gusting
11. Sunny with a max of 26, wave height 1.2-1.3 period 14 barometer 1022-1019.
High Tide 06.36 Low 00.31.
Saturday
NW gusting 3 first thing then early in the morning the wind swings to a
NE gusting 5. Sunny with a max of 27. Wave height 1.1 period 14 barometer
1021-1017.
High Tide 07.17 Low 01.13.
Sunday
NE gusting 8 before a gentle swing to the NNE late morning gusting 20 by
the evening. Sunny with a max of 26. Wave Height 1.2 period 13 barometer
1019-1015.
High Tide 08.17 Low 02.12.
Lagoon.
Last evening a Croc was spotted by young Mark at his secrete fishing
spot (please don’t tell anyone but it is in the picnic area next to the
slipway). I am wondering if it was the same one spotted by the UKZN students on
their field trip a few weeks ago. With high tide been early in the evening
means having an afternoon braai and fish the incoming water an ideal way to
spend the afternoon, at this time of the year the wind is not a problem and the
days are nice and warm, the evenings cool down and hopefully cool enough to
keep the mozzies at bay.
Surf.
With the weather forecast looking good for the weekend and the high tide
early in the evening fishing has to be productive in the afternoon session,
start tomorrow of with a trip to the banks and fish the outgoing tide and as
the banks start to fill up move to one of the Mtunzini beaches, Shangri La at
Port Dunford or the beaches at Dogantweni (Amatikulu). There are still lots of
small sharks in the surf zone, they are fun to catch and the kids whether they
fishing or not are fascinated by them, involve them by letting them hold them
and releasing them, share whatever your knowledge is with them, let them learn
about their importance and they not man eaters. I always say when you catching
these guys you are fishing in the feeding zone, stay there as the edibles will
come along and you will have a chance of catching a big Shad unfortunately the
bigger sharks do take your live bait but preserver the Garrick and Big Kob must
be lurking about.
Ski Boat.
The conditions for the weekend are looking good so if
you want to haul your boat here for the weekend JFDI (Just DO It). The tides
are well in your favor coming into neap there should be enough water to come
back into the mouth late morning or pack a lunch box and stay out all day. Don’t
dismiss heading for the wreck to look for some Queen Mackerel or King Fish,
then head across the bay to look for some Couta.
