Mixed reports are coming in some are saying they are catching some are
not. Some nice Grunter have been caught this week with some short of making
size, let’s hope the gill nets stay away and the big ones make it to the picnic
areas. The tides are good for morning fishing or fish till late into the night.
Surf.
Been a strange fishing week, we had a big sidewash on Wednesday with no
wind then Thursday it was gone. The gang fishing main beach yesterday only managed
some small sharks and no edibles at all eventually they got blown off the
beach. We have South blowing today which might result in a side wash, if this
happens probably the best place to fish will be Shangri-La Beach close to the
mouth and the use the sand banks there to “hide” behind. The penguin that washed up on our beach has been released somewhere in the Eastern Cape.
Ski boat.
Some news that we received after the report was sent out. Some Couta and
Bonnies were boated in our area in the Gerries area. The Bonnies were good bait
size but the Couta were below 20kg, there is still hope for next weekend. The
Couta always come to the party during the Classic. The weather looks good for a
practice run tomorrow, good swell long periods and a nice hot day with little
wind.
Next events.
We have taken delivery of Bait Casters, I have made some up
as a unit or you can buy the packs and build your own, We also took the
opportunity to get a different style of bait clip in, this new style should
equal to a better success rate of the bait dislodging from the clip after the cast.
In the readymade packs we have included a sinker clip.
We have an 8 sleeper house (can sleep 10 as it
has 2 double beds) should a group want to hire it, it is self-catering with
ample bait storage space.
