Lagoon
The Lagoon is full of big fat prawns, bigger than the ones
you get in the bait prawn box, this could be why the bigger Kob and Snapper Kob
are in the lagoon and then the Honeycomb Rays are still been caught in the
areas where the prawns are, they were initially reported in the mouth area but
we have reports of them passed the Steel Bridge.
Surf
I am considering organizing a beach clean-up on the Shangri-La
Beach at Port Dunford as I believe there are still a lot of glass and bottles
on the beach and we don’t want high tides to wash the bottle into the sea and smash
on each other and have broken glass in the surf zone. Talking about a mess on
the beach, I fished mainly in the Mtunzini area and only picked up 1 discarded
bait box over the holiday season to the anglers who fished here take a bow and
thank you for cleaning up as you went along. On the fishing front, the Kwambo
Angling Club were on a mission on Friday night and managed 1.8 ton of Diamonds
when most of the other anglers were not so lucky. On Saturday evening a small
group of guys fishing the Shangri-La beach managed 2 diamonds however what
surprised them was how small the one was judging by the size they showed me I
estimate it to have been barely 10kg which is highly unusual or it could have
been a Brown with its tail chopped off. There are still big Shad about but not
s commonly caught as a few weeks ago, the Snapper Kob seem to have moved into
the Estuary probably looking for warmer water.
Ski boat
Due to incumbent weather we have nothing to report.
