Lagoon
The lagoon has procured size Kob during the day even over
the weekend as well as some good catches of Shad and Pickhandle Barracuda. The
big Spotted Grunter can be caught on bigger baits and a fine specimen of 2.5kg
was landed in the Steel Bridge area ( where the rocks are) one evening during
the week making it the 2nd one my informants have told me about as
usualy the big Grunter are caught after dark.
Surf
Friday afternoon’s buster ripped through earlier than forecast
and brought the side wash with it, putting paid to any fishing for the
remainder of the weekend. The sidewash has started settling already thankfully
and anglers are going to fish this afternoon on the incoming tide. Shad season
is closed till 1 December and the following species of Sad may not be caught; Mud
Bream, Elf, Long Tooth Mullet, Sea Rats, Green fish, Blue Fish etc. Something
we have noticed is the lack of Sea Lice and Ghost crabs on the main beach does anyone
have any thoughts on this?
Ski boat
Fishing was tough on Friday and moving from reef to reef looking
for fish added to the frustration a nice big Rubber Lips of over 5 KG was
boated together with a lot of Squaretail Kob and a few Slinger, species wise it
was a disappointment for most. Blue Top popped out for a quick session behind
the wreck using artificials only the bagged Snoek, Big Shad and a GT which was
released. To quote one of the crew “The reefs were full up with fish but did
not want to bite” so at least we know there is fish out there. There are still
plenty of whales in the bay to keep one occupied.
