Lagoon
To the guys who were drinking Lion Larger that you for
putting your bottles and rubbish in the bin provided but the guys drinking
Castle Light that my friend is why you drink it. My pet hate is cleaning up a
fishing spot before I can start fishing be it at the lagoon or beach, sis man
what does your house look like. Enough of that. Due to the massive side wash
and the SE blowing (not a good fishing wind in our bay) my informant and I
headed for the Steel Bridge area to see if we could get hold of the mysterious monster
lurking there, we put 3 rods out using a 9o , 1o and a number 5 hook using
Mackerel and Sugar Bait we had masses of bites in my short time I was there, my
informant managed to land 1 massive Thorn Fish that gave a drawn out fight from
bite to landing was all of about 4 seconds, this specimen measured smaller than
a bic lighter. Shortly after I left 2 size River Bream were landed, just my
luck.
Surf
Late morning the SE came through in a big way before
dropping down enough to walk on the beach but not to fish as it lifted the
swell and made a very strong side wash on top of the side wash that was already
there. Upon arriving at the main car park to see if anyone had arrived to fish
the social we were met by another informant leaving the beach telling us that
not even a 10oz grapnel will sit. There were a group of guys who had come down
from Doggies beach who experienced the side wash there but wanted to see what
the main beach was like (unfortunately when we have a side wash in the bay it
is like that on all the fishing spots) We went and sat at the viewing platform
and yet more guys were leaving, it is so sad to see this especially on a long
weekend and the surf is not due to improve till next week. During the week one
of my informants grabbed a box of Sard and headed to Doggies, they were
rewarded with 2 small Kob, a Diamond of 40kg and Lessor Guitarfish not bad
going for a evening fishing session.
Ski boat
Our Monday’s charter was moved forward to yesterday, this is
how fast the weather changed from doing our planning on Thursday Monday was
looking the best day and in 24hrs the whole scenario changed, I believe our
boat was the only one and the guys battled to catch fish, they were out the
whole day and managed a handful of mainly Squaretail Kob maybe the whales were
eating the fish, who knows.
