Lagoon.
Fishing like at the beach was slow however, nice catches of Rockcod and
River Bream were made mainly at the Stone wall. There were some catches made of
Big Eye King Fish as well as Javelin Grunter and some were smashed by Diamonds.
It seems as though some of the big Diamonds have moved into the lagoon. If you
target them make sure you got the correct tackle and use medium sized baits.
Surf.
Doggy beach seemed to be the place to be yesterday with those big Shad
coming out, the main beach was very quiet, I only say a small Lessor Sand Shark
been cold but it was still fun as Chris had his Drone in action and was sending
baits of to Australia was interesting to see the way they operate and what
traces or rigs they were using, they did have some pickups but did not set the
hooks. Our bunch had a few bites but nothing to write home about.
Ski Boat.
At last a Garrick was caught, first of the season in local waters for
the ski boat club, the fish was caught on Nanook, well done action. On Saturday
a YFT of 27kg was boated caught on a Red Eye Sardine, on a trap stick, the guy
had just missed something on a normal Sard when they “Upgraded” to a Red Eye,
the “Vryheid gang” as we called them also had a good day in the rain on Friday with
catches of Kob, Slinger and Catface Rockcod, while they were busy fishing they
managed 2 rounds of golf in between, bust fellas. Yesterday fishing was slow
but the boats still managed to get some nice fish with a good mix of species, namely
Bronze Bream, Zebra, Slinger, Squaretail Kob, Cat Face Rockcod to name a few.
There are still some visiting boats in the village and one has already launched
let’s hope they have a good day, the weather looks to be clearing, let’s hope
that works in their favor.
Next events.
Umlalazi Ski Boat club is planning to hold a Bottom
