Lagoon.
With the Spoon Bills and Pelicans
still here it must mean the lagoon is in a healthy state, there are still a lot
of Species to catch that have not left for warmer waters. I am still excited
about the Big Eye Stumpnose I caught and it is still in the lagoon because I
caught it, so see if you can catch it, they put up a very good fight. We had a
little rain on Thursday morning but this will have no effect on the water
colour. The mouth is still deep and a good spot to target Garrick, live bait is
a must together with Poppers, Plugs and Spoons.
Surf.
Lots of small sharks in the surf zone at the moment and under sized Kob,
however don’t let that deter you as where there is little fish the big ones are
coming to eat them. On Wednesday some guys took a long walk up to the light
house and were rewarded with 8 Black Tip Sharks as well as some good sightings
of Dolphins and Whales. The bummer was their bakkie was broken into and nothing
was stolen. Unfortunately a car guard especially during the week is a must. We
do have a number for a guy at the shop.
Ski Boat.
After yesterday’s wind the sea has settled and continues to do so over
the course of the weekend. The water colour is improving all the time which
makes this weekend a good one to go fishing. There are still Couta and Tuna
about for the guys who want to target them. The bottom fishing is very good at
the moment with some nice big fish being caught recently.
Next events.
Umlalazi Ski Boat club are planning a “Bottoms Comp” in August, we will
let you know more detail as we get it.
