Weather for the weekend.
Friday
Day starts off with a Gentle breeze SSW and from the early afternoon it picks
up to a Moderate breeze at 6 m/s. Max temp 26. The day will be partly cloudy
with some rain forecast in the evening and throughout the night easing off in
the early hrs, double check your tent Mr Swart. Wave height 1.4 period 13.
High Tide 03.13 Low 09.21
Saturday
Gentle breeze 5 m/s for most of the morning WSW but by early afternoon
we have a swing to the SSW with a moderate breeze at 6 m/s. Overcast all day
with a max of 24. Wave height 1.4 period 12.

Sunday
Gentle breeze from the WSW at 4 m/s and by early afternoon this swing to
a light breeze at 3m/s from the S. Wave height 1.6 period 10

My apologies for getting the tides wrong this week, used the right week
wrong month, must have been a Aussie with some sand paper tampering with my
tide chart.
Lagoon.
Okay sad news first, we have to postpone the kiddies clinic due to the
fact it clashes with the beach blast, sorry we totally forgot about it, we are
bad. However it does not stop you going to practice as the prize for the next
clinic is a Rod and Reel Combo winner takes all. What is biting at the moment,
fish and crabs? Try a bigger bait on a number 3 hook as the Honey comb and
Brown Rays are still present in the river and who knows the bigger Malabar
Rockcod should soon be coming into the lagoon (I suspect to breed) and tend to
hang around for most of the cooler months. River Snapper they still here a good
place for them is around the island to the left of the slipway, they like structure
as they are ambush predators.
Surf.
If you reading this you are not on the beach, the water has settled and
has a nice colour with some wave action ( Although I can’t hear it this morning
me thinks the sea might be quiet flat) Wade out and see if you can get a Mac
out next to a bank and hold on. The big Shad are here but very difficult to
hook, they are “skelm” biting as we say, you must have rod in hand as they give
a good tug and then hey and your bait is gone, use a 4 or 5/0 hook and a whole
Sard tail down, some of the boxes of Pilchards I have now in stock have little
Sards which make an ideal throw bait. Flatties are still here and if memory
serves correct this time of year you may even get a Duckbill although not
common we do get the occasional visitor. Best baits for flatties beside Sard
will be Mac and Chokka. Even during the day do not discount a size i.e. 1m plus
Dusky Cob.
Ski Boat.
The last weekend before the Couta Classic and your last chance to get
some practice in, conditions don’t look to bad and the sea color is improving
every day, the bay has been very green since the rain and storms last week. I
know Glow Worm is going out this morning for a “Slow Trawl” (I was invited but
have to man the shop) so it would be interesting to see what he gets. Sunday is
the monthly mug with skippers briefing at 6pm at the ski boat club.
