Lagoon.
Some very nice Grunter have been caught towards the mouth and one was
taken on a live Pinky, very unusual but they have been known to take small Glassies,
mullet etc. The mouth seems to have deepened as the tidal difference is very
big resulting in good water movement and time to get the drift bait tactics out
of the tackle box. Let the bait drift till it falls into a “Hole” then sit back
and hang on.
Surf.
Diamonds, Giant Guitar Fish are plenty as well as other flatties. Baits
to use vary but you stand of catching a Diamond on a whole Sard best been Mac’s,
Bonnies, shad heads. Wave Garrick and Shad are about as well as size Cob, the
problem sometimes is the Diamonds get to the bait first. At the moment the guys
are fishing between the Banks and Port Dunford due to the cleanliness of the
water. For edibles stick to the main beach and you will pick up Diamonds by
default.
Ski Boat.
Saturday afternoon and through the night looks a good time to fish for an
all-nighter after the front has passed in the afternoon. During the week some
nice bottoms were boated but no game fish. Water is nice and clean and colour
is looking good.
Next events.
Kiddie’s clinic on the 24 Feb.
Next monthly mug will be on the 4 March.
