Lagoon.
On Saturday during the kiddies comp the wind pumped and it was towards
the end we started catching some little fish. The river was busy this weekend
with the following been caught but nothing that made size, Cape Stumpnose, Cape
Moon Fish, Spotted and Javelin Grunter, River Bream, River Snapper , Pickhandle
Barracuda, baby Cob and some Eels, no flat fish though.
Surf.
Diamonds and other flat fish are plenty and you don’t have to have Mac’s
to catch them, it does help but they are even taking Sard bait, they coming
into the surf zone to feed and feed they are. I have been asked by a few people
on how not to catch them, the correct answer would be “Stay at Home” but clearly
that will result in a dirty look, I don’t know, they have been caught in front
of the shore break, edges of sand banks, on top of sand banks, in gullies etc.
For the edible fellas there are Shad, Snapper Cob, Spotted Grunter and Pompanos
to keep you busy and your belly full.
Ski Boat.
Apart from Tuna game fish were hiding away again after the false dawn
from the weekend before. With only a small window on Saturday morning very few
boats went out, this morning you could see the smash ups in the bay from the
Country Club, typical for a Monday. Sunday is looking good for the monthly mug.
News from the shop.
We have no Mackerel until about the 12 Feb.
Upcoming Events
Monthly mug on the 4 Feb if the surf is up we will convert it to a River
comp only. River boats can enter but will only be eligible for 3rdprize (first and Second prize reserved for the ski boats). Lines in 5 am cut off
2pm prize giving 3pm.
