Due to the windy conditions the lagoon was packed with anglers, most caught some fish and quite a few got lucky and got big numbers including a variety of species. The week with the big swell, the lagoon will be the place to be. To get the big fish, it is best to fish into the evenings with bigger baits. Lots of small Honey Comb and Brown Rays were caught to add to the Grunter, River Bream and small Cob.
For those that braved the surf, very few were rewarded as there was a side wash to contend with. Shad and Sand sharks were the most common fish but you had to work at it. Fishing for the next week should follow a similar pattern with the sea only returning to normality by the weekend. The next long weekend is looking good.
With the Harbor closed due to adverse sea conditions not fishing was done over the weekend, even the Bonanza at Richards Bay was cancelled. After the big Couta caught before the front came through on Thursday night, this front was a great damper for the ski boat fisherman. A Boat did manage to go out through the mouth this morning but one can imagine how uncomfortable it will be on the sea.
News from the Shop.
