Lagoon
Our little shop is a tackle shop and not a institute of
advanced criminology …….so many people ask us how to smuggle beers into the
parks board area as unfortunately due to historic circumstances unless you are
staying in the park you may not take alcohol into the park over the festive
season and somehow people think we can smuggle as well as fish, we do have a
good laugh about that.
Be very careful when at the lagoon especially with small
kids as there are a lot of very small Jelly Fish in the water and they are
alive so therefore the “Sting” will be on function mode. We have no idea where
they came from and how long they will stay there, they seem to be quiet happy
swimming up and down for now, we are hoping they bite the Gill Netters.
Surf
This weekend Zululand Rock and Surf held their annual Turkey
trot at Mtunzini and fished it as a common venue, the SW was blowing yet the
guys still managed 14 Diamonds which goes to show they can be caught in that
wind but not in big numbers. Lots of small sharks Shad and Snapper Kob were
caught. Much to one of my informant’s disgust he got a Small Spinner Shark double
up on a 2 hook rig meant for bigger sharks. Doggie beach proved to be the place
to be with an angler fishing socially decided to swim a Diamond and was
rewarded with a very big Zambie I don’t have the length or weight but judging
from the photo and my limited Zambie experience I would put it at 130kg plus.
The big fish are here.
Ski boat
As I am compiling this report I have no news on any boating
activity, I heard of one boat that was going out yesterday but with that SW
blowing it could not have been fun out there. News just in the boat stayed safe
at home.
