Lagoon.
Seems as though the lagoon was asleep over the weekend with very few
fish caught apart from the every hungry River Bream.
Surf.
Fishing was tough over the weekend with mainly small Sharks been caught,
Hound and Small Spinners seem to be the main species, a small Spotted Grunter
was caught but apart from that my informants have been slow in reporting other
catches. On group came into the shop for a refund on the bait they purchased as
they caught nothing, when I enquired to whether they casted on land or water I
got a blank look from the 3 of them and we established Sand Sharks do not live
behind the sand dunes, today they are going to try fish in the sea……..
Ski Boat.
Saturday was a good day out and the guys that ventured to high point
manage quite a few Couta on angler was rewarded with 3 the biggest being 22kg,
there were also a lot of sharks about so they were lucky. In the bay some very
nice catches of Slinger and Squaretail Kob were made, one boat caught a Lizard
fish and released it only to find out later if make excellent live bait for
Couta, you live and learn.
We took 2 guys out from Middle Burg on a Charter on Friday and they were
well rewarded with 9 Species of fish. Javelin or Morph Grunter, Slinger,
Soldier, Cat Faced Rockcod, Squaretail Cob, Rubber Lip, Cave Bass, Yellow Belly
Rockcod and a Dane of 1.5kg. No gamefish were caught over the weekend that we
know off. Needless to say the surf conditions changed on Sunday so we never
went out.
Next events.
