Lagoon.
River Bream, Large Spot Pompano, Black Tail, Shad, River Snapper, Cob, Spotted,
Javelin and Cock Grunter, Cape Stumpnose to name some of the species caught
over the weekend and 2 reels spooled that we know of plus someone spent a long
time on what we think is a large Honey Comb Ray by its activity, regrettably we
do not know how it ended. Things were happening all over but mainly in the area
of the mouth. The 2 reels that were spooled happened to the right of the main
car park. Stacks of crabs were caught and big ones at that, these are edible
and you may catch them with a rod and reel, you do need a license to catch them
you may have 3 per day.
Surf.
Port Dunford hogged the action again over the weekend with some very
nice Shad been caught and a few Cob, along the main beach area it was rather
hit and miss with some Anglers having a good time with baby Greys and the odd
Shad others had not even a bite. There are a lot of undersize Cob in the surf
zone, please adhere to the 60cm and above rule.
Ski Boat.
Saturday was a good day for the boats targeting Pelagic Fish as well as
bottoms, for the guys who were fishing both top and bottom the bulk of the
catches were Squaretail Cob and one boat got 2 fairly sized ones 7kg and a 5
kg. Very few Slinger, Rock Cob were caught. The main game fish were Couta caught
in the Gerries area. Apparently high point was a bit slow although we heard
some spear fisherman bagged a good few Couta. The sea is settling after yesterday’s
weather but looking forward to the week particularly Thursday and Friday it is
not looking good and the next fishing day after today might be Sunday.
